Wellbeing:

  • Vaccination and immunisation

Vaccination saves lives. Vaccination is the most important thing we can do to protect ourselves and others. Vaccinations can prevent up to 3 million deaths worldwide every year.

  • What are vaccines?

A vaccine is a type of medicine that trains the body’s immune system so that it can fight a disease it has not come into contact with before.

Vaccines are designed to prevent disease, rather than treat a disease once you have caught it.

  • Need more information about vaccinations?

If you feel you may have missed a vaccination, or have recently been called for a vaccination and feel you need more information, you can find up-to-date information on the Swansea Bay UHB website Vaccinations in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot – Swansea Bay University Health Board or on the Public Health Wales website Immunisation and Vaccines – Public Health Wales

You can also call the Swansea Bay Health Board Immunisation team, on 01792 200492 if you’d like to receive more information on where you can receive vaccines.
