Citizens Advice Swansea Neath Port Talbot:

  • Recognises the important role played by volunteers both in the work of CASNPT and the important and valuable contribution made by volunteers to the fabric of the local community.

  • Acknowledges the unique contribution made by volunteers to the life of communities, service users, paid staff and to the volunteers themselves.

  • Attempts to use volunteers’ skills, knowledge and experience in a way that will meet both the volunteer’s and organisation’s needs.

  • Recognises that volunteers keep CASNPT rooted in, and engaged with, the local community.

  • Recognises that volunteers complement the role of paid staff.

Our volunteers provide a wide range of support which can include meeting and greeting clients; helping people to identify issues and available options; and providing detailed advice on rights and responsibilities. We also have opportunities for volunteer social media campaigners, translators and of course, trustees.

We really value the time and commitment given by our volunteers, and we do our best to offer the support and guidance our volunteers need from us in return. All volunteers are provided with initial induction and diversity training. This is then followed by tailored training to meet individual needs, and includes workshops, observations and self-study/e-learning. In addition, there is regular ongoing training available to all paid and volunteer staff, and all volunteers are assigned a supervisor who will provide support and guidance in their role.
